The first step to treat pes planus is to support the feet. The doctor might recommend wearing orthotics. These are inserts that can put inside the shoes to reduce pressure. For kids, special heel cups or shoes can be used until their feet develop fully. A specific exercise and diet plan can be suggested by your doctor to manage weight and alleviate pressure on the feet. You should also avoid walking or standing in an extended period. Depending on the cause, NSAIDs could help alleviate pain and swelling. In more serious cases, surgery is often the last resort.
