3Psychodynamic Therapy
Similar to cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy is also talk-based. However, psychodynamic therapy pays more attention to looking to your past to understand your present. For this reason, the therapist will review your early-life relationship with your mother, father, siblings, and other relatives to explore the development of your attachment style and the formation of your psychological process.
In psychodynamic therapy, the therapist will focus on helping you examine yourself, understand yourself, and empower yourself to heal emotional wounds and overcome unhealthy thinking or behavior patterns.
Psychodynamic treatment can be used for
- Depression
- Panic disorder
- Social anxiety disorder
- Personality disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Eating disorder
- Interpersonal problems
Psychodynamic therapy has a relatively longer treatment span, and it can last from several months to years. Short-term psychodynamic therapy requires at least 25 sessions over a period of six months, while long-term psychodynamic therapy should consist of a minimum of 50 sessions in two years.
