9Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy involves the use of high-energy X-rays and other forms of radiation to inhibit the growth or kill cancerous cells. There are basically two options: internal and external. Internal radiation uses radioactive substances sealed in catheters, wires, seeds, or needles, while external radiation uses a device outside your body to send radiation. A doctor often suggests this option when the surgery cannot remove the tumor. Also, it can be used to reduce the size of a tumor before a surgical procedure begins. [9]
