8Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is another common treatment option for cancer. It uses drugs to inhibit the growth of cancerous cells by killing them or by preventing them from developing and spreading. When chemotherapy is injected into a muscle or vein or taken orally, the medications will penetrate the bloodstream and reach cancerous cells throughout your body. This is also known as systemic chemotherapy. Another option is regional chemotherapy, which means drugs can directly affect cancerous cells after being injected via a body cavity or organ. Sometimes, more than one drug is used to enhance the effects. [8]
