8Cortisone Injection
Cortisone is a special hormone that can be medically administered to treat injuries and different types of arthritis, especially osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Injecting steroid medication into or around a ligament, tendon, or muscle would help reduce pain and inflammation quickly, thus allowing for unrestricted and normal movement. Unlike NSAIDs, cortisone may work longer and have a stronger effect. Common options include triamcinolone, dexamethasone, and prednisolone. Possible complications of cortisone injections include nerve damage or irritation, reduced immune function, bleeding, or infection. [8]
