6Treatment for Crohn’s disease
Unfortunately, Crohn’s disease has no cure now, but people have many options to manage and control the disease progression. Here are some treatments for Crohn’s disease that you can use to ease your symptoms.
Medications
Aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, and immunomodulators are the most common medications for Crohn’s treatments. Aminosalicylates are compounds containing 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), and it is used among patients with mild to moderate symptoms to reduce inflammation in the lining of the bowel. Corticosteroids are a kind of anti-inflammatory drug that can suppress the immune response and reduce inflammation. Immunomodulators can beneficially affect and modify the immune function to prevent active immunity or passive immunity. [1]
