In advanced and severe cases of COPD when these methods mentioned above don’t work, lung surgery might be the last resort. The main goal is to remove the bullae or damaged parts of the air spaces and reduce the volume of your lungs. This will make it easier to breathe. Lung transplants can also be performed to replace the whole damaged part. To be eligible for lung surgery, you must be healthy and don’t have a history of kidney, liver, or heart disease.
