8Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale
The Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale or BFCRS is a quantifiable, standardized examination used for screening and diagnosing the presence of catatonia. It was created in 1996 based on reports and literature. In general, the scale is comprised of 23 items. Items 1 to 13 are used for screening and marked as 0 (absent) or 3 (present). The total score is the sum of the patient’s responses to all items in the list. The whole process takes around 5 minutes. Due to its speed, validity, as well as reliability, the BFCRS is one of the most preferred options to detect catatonia. [7]
