6Genetics
The genetic components are strong in the likelihood of developing cataracts. This mostly happens through the mechanisms which maintain and protect your lens. Many genetic syndromes are directly related to the development of cataracts in early life or childhood. These include Down syndrome, Turner’s syndrome, Patau’s syndrome, as well as Edward’s syndrome. Some of these conditions might run in families. This means those people with a family history of those issues would be at higher risks of experiencing cataracts. [6]
