13Take Medications
Just like other health issues, there are many medications available to help you alleviate pain and inflammation caused by a bone spur. Some common OTC pain relievers to consider include naproxen sodium, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen. Any of those painkillers would work equally effectively. Keep in mind to take the directed dose unless the healthcare provider advises you otherwise. You can also consider a topical pain reliever such as capsaicin. Just rub and apply a thin layer over the joints which are affected. Perform this around 2 to 3 times per day to get the best results. Make sure to wash your hand carefully before applying.
