7Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy is often a complementary treatment with TURBT and chemotherapy. In this procedure, a radiation oncologist will use high-energy X-rays to eliminate cancer cells and alleviate symptoms triggered by a tumor such as a blockage, bleeding, or pain. A radiation therapy schedule or regimen often consists of a particular number of sessions given over a period of time. A typical treatment session often lasts 5 days each week for a few weeks.
The most common form of radiation treatment is external-beam therapy in which radiation will be created from a device outside your body. Another type is brachytherapy or internal radiation which use implants. Some side effects of radiation therapy might include loose bowel movement, skin reactions, and fatigue. However, these conditions will disappear soon after you finish the treatment. [7]
