Immunotherapy, also known as Bacillus Calmette – Guerin (BCG), is the use of BCG to help your immune system identify and eliminate cancer cells. BCG is a kind of bacteria that is developed as a tuberculosis vaccine. Recently, many studies have found that it can also be effective in killing bladder cancer cells.
While immunotherapy is very effective, it can also lead to many side effects for up to 2 days. These might include body aches, chills, fever, excessive urination, fatigue, blood in urine, painful urination, or burning bladder.
In rare cases, BCG could spread to other parts of your body and cause an infection that might trigger a fever. Since it is a serious medical emergency, you need to seek immediate medical attention from your doctor. [6]
