15Hearing Loss
Hearing loss is quite uncommon in multiple sclerosis as only 6% of people suffer from this condition. The underlying cause is associated with damages to the brainstem which contains the important nerves to control balance, hearing, and vision. In most cases, it often occurs during an acute exacerbation. Deafness because of multiple sclerosis is rare, and most of these symptoms often improve over time. Since hearing deficits aren’t common in this disorder, those with hearing loss should consult their doctors for a thorough evaluation to rule out the cause. [15]
