13Behavioral Changes
Many medical conditions can cause behavioral changes, and ALS is one of them. When a person loses the ability to do some of the things that he or she used to do efficiently, it can have an impact on mental health and emotions. Also, ALS in most cases, affects muscles and nerves, while leaving the cognitive process intact, which means it is possible for an ALS patient to be completely aware of what is going on after the symptoms have set in, this will result in some attitudinal and behavioral changes. Additionally, behavioral changes can occur in patients that develop dementia as a result of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. [10]
