10Cool Down
Acute dehydration is usually triggered by extended exposure to heat or increased body temperature. In both cases, you should attempt to cool down the body to prevent the further loss of fluids. Make sure to take off or loosen any excess, tight clothing to keep it from smothering your skin. If you are outside, find a cool spot with shade or air conditioning. Put a wet towel on the forehead or around the neck to help cool the skin. If necessary, use a spray bottle to mist your skin with warm water. Make sure the cooling process is done gradually to prevent shocks. That’s why you should not use ice water or ice packs for this purpose. [10]
