7Calcinosis
The systemic type of scleroderma would lead to the forming of small white calcium growths under the finger skin or other body parts. This condition is also known as calcinosis. The lumps would break through your skin and make a white substance leak. In some cases, open cuts could become infected. Commonly affected areas include knees, elbows, and hands. The size can vary, ranging from very small deposits to large and typically painful clusters. In addition to scleroderma, calcinosis can be caused by some conditions like parasitic infections, tumors, vitamin D deficiency, lupus, and dermatomyositis.[7]
