The fibroid can grow as a single tumor or there can be many of them. Also, the sizes vary as some fibroid tumors can be as small as apple seeds while some as big as a grapefruit.
Although fibroid has not been pinpointed to an exact cause, it is, however, essential to know that its growth is related to certain factors such as genetic, progesterone, estrogen, and growth hormones. Fibroids rapidly grow when hormone levels are high and shrink when anti-hormones medications are used or when the patient in question hits menopause and hormone levels becomes extremely low. Unlike every other tumor, the fibroid is neither hazardous to the health nor life-threatening. [9, 10]
