Unexplained weight loss of more than 10 pounds or 5% of body weight during a period of 12 months might be associated with many forms of cancer, including lung cancer. There are many ways in which cancerous cells trigger this condition. These include the consumption of energy from the tumor, changes in metabolic rate, and a loss of appetite due to fatigue.
