5AIDS
This is the final and most severe stage of the infection. When you fail to detect the virus early enough and let it multiply past the clinical latency period without medication, AIDS results. AIDS is short for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and its symptoms are more severe than the earlier ones felt during the acute stage of the disease. The symptoms of AIDS include night sweat, chills, fever, weight loss, weakness, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, severe diarrhea lasting a long time, bruises without an obvious cause, and infections elsewhere. At this stage, the CD4 T lymphocytes in the blood have been depleted so drastically. These lymphocytes have progressively been destroyed by the virus during the clinical latency stage. Most people with AIDS who don’t take any medications live to about 3 years or less with it. [4]
