Paroxysm is a sudden attack. This symptom is very common in patients with whooping cough. When the cough progresses to being severe, the patient is found experiencing an uncontrollable and sudden fit of coughing. Because this attack is sudden, it comes with so much pressure. At this point, the cough is dry, and there is no more mucus to produce. This makes the seizure to last up to a minute and leave the patient’s eyes all red and teary. Also, because of the long time this seizure lasts and its persistence, the patient might develop a severe headache or even an ear infection. [3]
