10Brain Hemorrhage (Bleeding)
This symptom comes last because it is a very rare case, but it is possible for it to occur in some special cases. A patient with whooping cough who had earlier been diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm (that is a weakened vessel) or high blood pressure, is likely to suffer a brain hemorrhage. This is because the fits of coughing come in a sudden and forceful way, thereby straining the nerves and increasing the pressure inside the brain. Brain hemorrhage is not only caused by paroxysmal cough but also by continuous, forceful sneezes. As mentioned earlier, this symptom is not general. So, there is no cause for panic.
