10 Common Symptoms of Thrombosis

2Warmness and Discolored Skin

In some cases, thrombosis may make the skin in the affected arm or leg become warm or even hot to the touch. You can put your palm against the skin to check for the temperature and compare it to that of the forehead to know whether the skin in the possible clot is warmer. The warmth would radiate only from the swollen part. However, keep in mind that the increased warmth can affect the whole limb. [2]

In people with thrombosis, the skin around the affected part might exhibit discoloration. You may look for patches of bluish or reddish skin that look quite similar to a bruise that will not go away. Keep in mind to watch these spots and check whether they stay bluish or reddish or change colors. If the colors persist, it can be a sign of a blood clot and you need to seek medical attention immediately. [3]
