Stroke is not gender-specific, it affects both men and women, but the rate at which this disease occurs is quite heavy on one gender than the other. Meaning the incident rates and outcomes are different between these two genders. Women have longer life expectancy than men which makes them experience their first attack of a stroke at a very old age (say 85 years or so) but with a disadvantage of little or no survival because of the old age. Men, on the other hand, suffer a stroke at ages younger than that of women. Because of this, they tend to survive the attack more. This means we have more women than men dying of this disease.
