8Family History
In some cases, anemia can be genetic. This disease can run in the family, and coming generations are at great risk of also suffering from it.
One of those anemias that can be inherited is a particular group of hemolytic anemia. This type of anemia is caused by the destruction of red blood cells. If the destruction of red blood cells is faster than the bone marrow can replace them, it leads to anemia.
Also, there is another type that can be inherited called sickle cell anemia. This is caused by an abnormal ‘sickle’ shape of the red blood cells as a result of the defected form of hemoglobin.[9]
