8How Long Does It Take to Apply for a SLMB Program?
In many cases, it may take time until Medicaid begins to pay Medicare directly. You would get a check for the total amount for any month that Medicaid would pay the premium but did not. There will be an annual notification that you have to recertify or renew benefits of a SLMB program. In case you do not get a notification, it is important to contact the Medicaid office to make sure that your benefits do not run out. If you are eligible for the SLMB program, there will be a notice from the Medicare to inform you that you are qualified for Extra Help. This information can be submitted to your Medicare Part D, which covers prescription drugs, to help save your money. [8]
