5Side Effects

The exact side effects differ from person to person, depending on their health conditions and gall bladder health. The content of the bile supplement plays a major role in determining the side effects experienced. People who take bile supplements may experience any of the following adverse reactions:

  • Gut Inflammation

Some components of the bile supplement may cause the gut lining to get inflamed. For example, bile acids, such as deoxycholic acid, which are contents of some bile supplements. They exacerbate gut inflammation in persons with irritable bowel syndrome.

Bile acids have been associated with several cancers of the gastrointestinal tract.
