8Associated Conditions with the Duodenum
People of any age group might have duodenum-associated conditions. Maladies of this organ is a common cause of abdominal discomfort. Because the duodenum is connected with other parts, such as the pancreas and liver, cancerous cells are usually reported concurrently in these areas. Other common conditions affecting the duodenum include duodenal ulcers, celiac disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
When the lining of the duodenum is inflamed, it causes duodenitis. There are many causes of this condition. These include viral infections, celiac disease, bacterial infections, H. pylori infection, the use of NSAIDs, autoimmune diseases, smoking, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and duodenal lymphocytosis.
