Maine Coon cats are characterized by a thick fur coat and large stature. They originated from Maine, a small state in the northeastern part of the United States. In the 1970s, the CFA recognized them as purebred. Maine Coon cats are great hunters but also gentle. Most of them have extra toes, making their feet look very large. These parts work as snowshoes to help them hunt effectively during snowy conditions. The most typical color of this breed is a brown tabby, but there are up to 70 different combinations. [4]
