5Does Pineal Gland Produce DMT?

It is still unclear and controversial whether pineal gland produces DMT. In fact, the notion that DMT can be released from this organ and lead to psychoactive effects came from “DMT: The Spirit Molecule”, a popular book written in 2000 by American clinical psychiatrist Rick Strassman. The author suggested that the DMT produced by pineal gland allowed the life to drag into the current as well as next life. Scientists have found trace amounts of this substance in rats’ pineal glands. However, there have still no evidence that it exists in the human’s pineal glands. In addition, the pineal gland would not be even the main source. A recent study on animals has identified that the rat brain would still release DMT in various parts of the body even when the pineal gland was removed. [7]
