Medicare Advantage PPO vs. HMO Plans

5Medicare Advantage HMO Plan

What Is It and What Is Covered?

Medicare Advantage Health Maintenance Organization or HMP is a plan that is based on in-network healthcare providers. If you choose this option, you can only choose from a list of in-network services for medical services. When using an out-of-network provider, you may have to pay a higher expense or the full out-of-pocket maximum. However, there is an exception for those who are in emergency cases or need a dialysis visit or urgent care while traveling. [5]

If you choose a Medicare Advantage HMP plan, the following expenses may be covered:

– Medicare Part A: hospital insurance and care, hospice care, limited home healthcare, and limited care in skilled nursing facilities

– Medicare Part B: outpatient procedures, medical tests, doctors’ services, medical equipment, home health services, and certain preventive care and services

– Medicare Part D: prescription medications

– Hearing, vision, and dental care

– Additional coverage, such as home meal delivery, transportation to medical centers or fitness memberships [6]
