During a mammogram, you need to stand in front of a machine for releasing X-rays. Next, the doctor will put one of the breast on a surface, which will be increased or decreased to suit your height. Your torso, arms, and head are placed so that the breast can be examined without obstruction. Next, the breast is pressed slowly against the surface with a plastic plate. This should be done in a couple of seconds to spread out your breast tissue, thus allowing the X-rays to enter and get clear pictures.
