Losartan – Uses, Dosage, Side Effects and More

6Who Should or Should Not Take Losartan?

Losartan is safe for most adults over 18 years old to take. Children over 6 years old can also take the drug, but only for treating high blood pressure. A doctor would prescribe losartan when you have tried similar medications to reduce blood pressure, such as lisinopril and ramipril, but could not continue due to side effects. People with some health problems should avoid losartan. These include those who:

– Have diabetes, kidney, liver, and heart issues

– Have a history of allergies to losartan or similar medications

– Experience vomiting or diarrhea after taking losartan

– Recently went through a kidney transplant

– Have hypotension or low blood pressure

– Follow a low salt diet [9]
