6Possible Interactions
You should avoid taking lorazepam with other central nervous system depressants as it would increase the risk of breathing issues. In particular, lorazepam may interact with other benzodiazepines, anti-anxiety drugs, sleeping pills, opioid pain drugs, antipsychotics, barbituates, anesthetics, anticonvulsants, sedative antihistamines, and tricyclic antidepressants. Do not take lorazepam with alcohol, as it is a depressant as well. Other medications that may interact with lorazepam include Probalan, Valproate anticonvulsants, Clozaril, and Theolair. [9]
Lorazepam for Breastfeeding and Pregnant Women
It is not fully-known whether lorazepam can be safe for pregnant women. However, it is better to discuss with your doctor about the risk of withdrawal symptoms in your babies. Since lorazepam can pass into breast milk, it is not recommended to take this medication if you are breastfeeding. If you want to take it, a very short period or a very low dosage is suggested to ensure safety for your infants. In general, get medical advice if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to be pregnant. [10]
