6Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is the most common sleep issue in individuals with diabetes. It happens when the breathing starts and stops repeatedly during the night. A recent study suggested that more than 85 percent of people with diabetes experienced sleep apnea. Among these, more than 50 percent reported severe symptoms that require medical treatments. Sleep apnea is especially prevalent in those with type 2 diabetes due to excess weight, which may constrict the air passages. Typical signs include snoring and tiredness during the day. The risk is higher in obese people and those with a family history of sleep apnea. Maintaining a healthy body weight is effective in alleviating the symptoms. In some cases, you may need to put on a special mask while sleeping to breathe easier. [7]
