Foods to Avoid If You Have Anxiety or Depression

2Added Sugar

Sugar can be found in almost all foods and drinks. While natural sugar in fruits and veggies is totally fine, people with depression or anxiety should avoid added sugar. It may increase sugar levels in the blood suddenly, which causes the energy to go up and down in a short period. As sugar levels crash, your anxiety levels may spike and mood goes down quickly. Consuming too much added and processed sugar may trigger sadness, irritability, and worrisome. Therefore, avoid sugary foods and drinks, such as cookies, candy, ketchup, soda, breakfast cereal, salad dressing, and more. Instead, consume naturally sweet fruits and veggies. [2]
