Dupixent is the brand name for dupilumab, the first injectable medication approved by the FDA for treating eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis. It is often prescribed for those people who are at least 6 years old. The doctor may inject the medication subcutaneously in the lower abdomen or thigh every 2 weeks. Dupixent can be used on its own or combined with topical steroid therapies. In addition, the medication can also help those people with severe asthma or the elderly who need to control their asthma attacks. Dupilumab is the active ingredient in Dupixent. This is a biologic medication, meaning that it is produced from parts of certain living organisms. Dupixent is available as a liquid solution contained in a prefilled pen or syringe. There are two strength levels: 200 mg/1.14 mL and 300 mg/2 mL.
