Another risk of alcohol consumption after a workout is to slow down muscle growth. After workout, one group took alcohol and carbs, one group took alcohol and protein shake, and one group took a protein shake. The results suggested that a lack of muscle-building nutrients, especially protein, may affect muscle recovery and growth. [5]
