In implant reconstruction, the surgeon uses a breast implant rather than body tissues to reform the breast. This option is suitable for those who do not have sufficient fat tissues for body tissue reconstruction. During this procedure, a tissue expander is inserted into the body so that a silicone or saline implant can be placed to reshape the breast. Compared to body tissue reconstruction, implant reconstruction is usually shorter and has a quicker recovery. More importantly, the rate of revision is also higher. [4]
