8DHEA-sulfate Serum Test

The DHEA hormone is produced by the adrenal glands. A DHEA-sulfate serum test will measure whether the level of this hormone is too low or too high. In men, DHEA is important in developing body hair. In women, a high level would often lead to some male features, such as excessive body hair. DHEA deficiency in men would be triggered by AIDs, anorexia nervosa, kidney disease, and diabetes. High levels in both genders would be caused by tumor or cancer in your adrenal glands, puberty, and unusual genital development. [8]
