In addition to the main uses mentioned above, Lipitor can be used off-label for other purposes that have not been proved by the authorities. These may include:

– Lowering high levels of cholesterol linked to HIV

– Treating neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease

– Treating some forms of cancer like colorectal cancer

– Reducing the risk of heart problems linked to autoimmune disorders, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis [4]

Possible Side Effects of Atorvastatin

Common side effects of Lipitor may include urinary tract infection, diarrhea, joint main, common cold symptoms like sneezing or sore throat, and pain in different parts of the body, such as the feet, hands, legs, and arms. More series side effects may happen, but they are quite rare. They would include liver damage, muscle discomfort, allergic reactions, memory issues, and rhabdomyolysis. Make sure to seek immediate medical attention as soon as you notice any of these problems. In some cases, Lipitor would cause long-term side effects that persist even after you stop the medication. These may include necrotizing myopathy and diabetes. [5]
