5Improve Sperm Quality
Apart from its role in pregnancy, folic acid can improve the quality of sperms in males. On average, 1,500 sperm cells are generated on a daily basis by a typical man. The process of forming sperm cells from germline stem cells takes around 2 months. Folic acid plays a key role in this function by controlling DNA synthesis and cell division. Studies have shown that high levels of folic acid in semen are related to better sperm health and count. Conversely, people with low folic acid levels tend to have poorer stability in sperm DNA. However, keep in mind that taking folic acid supplements does not mean you can treat all problems related to male infertility. [5]
