You can also get aspirin which is useful in reducing pain and swelling. This medication helps to relieve mild to moderate pain. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that works by blocking a specific natural substance in the body to reduce pain and swelling. When taking this drug, adhere to the instructions given to you by your doctor. Take this drug with a full glass of water and do not crush or chew before using as it is known to be an enteric-coated drug which can increase the risk of side effects accompanied with it. Usage should be oral by swallowing. Also, note that this drug is considered too powerful to be given to children under the ages of 12. So, if your little kid has strep throat, aspirin is not an option. [5]
