8Flaxseeds May Help Lower Cholesterol
Some studies have shown that flaxseeds can help to reduce cholesterol levels in the body. Flaxseeds can generally reduce the LDL (bad cholesterol), and at the same time, it can increase the HDL (good cholesterol) levels. The particular way in which flaxseeds reduce cholesterol has not been established, but it may be due to the fiber content. The fiber joins with bile salts before being excreted, and in the body’s bid to replace the bile salts, cholesterol is absorbed from the blood to the liver. [8]
