8Risks
Most wisdom teeth removals do not lead to long-term complications. Nevertheless, extracting impacted wisdom teeth often involves cutting the gum or makes an incision. It would increase the risk of infection from trapped food particles or bacteria. In this case, damage to surrounding areas like sinuses, jawbone, nerves, or teeth can happen. Another possible risk is a dry socket, a condition caused by the loss of blood clots from the cut area.[8]
