9Microarray Testing
Another form of genetic testing to diagnose Williams syndrome is microarray testing. It utilizes markers to find out whether there are extra or missing pieces of DNA existing on the chromosomes of people with suspected symptoms. This test does not only determine the deletion of elastin but it can also show a deeper understanding of the exact size of the deleted parts on chromosome 7. Since a microarray test often requires advanced tools, it needs to be done in a specialized lab. It takes around 2 to 4 weeks to get the results. [9]
