8Reduced Speech
In addition to disorganized speech, people with schizophrenia can also have reduced speech. This means they might significantly speak less than usual. Other people can also notice the sign when someone speaks less fluently than they used to. In more severe cases, it can be hard to communicate their thoughts or have a full conversation. They may only answer “no” or “yes” or have delays in giving the answers. Keep in mind that these symptoms are different from those caused by positive symptoms like disorganized thinking or visual and auditory hallucinations. [8]
