Disorganized speech is also known as loose association. People with schizophrenia can experience psychotic form. They cannot link words together properly based on basic language rules. Instead, these people might string them together based on puns, rhyme, sounds, or even without links. Even though people can make speech errors sometimes, particularly when they are stressed or tired, psychotically disorganized speech can be clearly abnormal, which makes it hard for others to understand.
