8Outlook and Complications
With early diagnosis and treatment, many people with RSD might have relief of symptoms within 1.5 years. However, other patients might develop disability and chronic pain. Many studies have not found out the exact cause of this difference in individuals with RSD. More research in the future is needed to identify why and how RSD stars, how the condition develops, as well as discover those people at risk for common chronic diseases.
When you are not diagnosed or treated for RSD early, the condition might progress and cause disability. Typical problems include tissue wasting or atrophy and muscle tightening or contracture. These issues would severely affect your daily life at work or study. [8]
