6Pseudogout Versus Gout
As the name implies, pseudogout is very similar to gout. Both are forms of arthritis, which is characterized by inflammation. In addition, they both occur when crystals build up in the joints. However, there are still many differences. While pseudogout occurs when calcium pyrophosphate crystals build up, gout is caused by the deposit of uric acid crystals. These deposits lead to inflammatory responses in the affected joints, which eventually make the joint cartilage break down.[6]
