9Biologics for Inflammatory Arthritis
Biologics are new kinds of DMARDS. Compared to other medications in the category, they can respond faster. Biologic drugs are able to target a specific protein or molecule involved in the inflammatory responses. In fact, they are antibodies that can be given as injections by intravenous infusion or under the skin. Due to immunosuppression, this treatment option tends to be more expensive and harder to use. However, they would significantly improve the function and prognosis in those with inflammatory arthritis, especially when traditional DMARDs do not work.[9]
